Jammin’ on the Plaza
The LDDA in conjunction with Todd Skaw of Guitars Etc. will be putting on a mid-summer concert trio in St Stephens Plaza.
This concert series is unique to downtown Longmont because it features all local artists. Todd will be organizing different musical sets created and performed by Guitars Etc. own students. How exciting!
The concerts will take place on Friday evenings from 5:30pm-7:00pm and run July 11, July 25, August 1.
Bob Goff from Abbondanza Pizzeria and Brandon and Camrin Knudsen from Ziggi’s will be on location to sell pizza, beverages and gelato.
By designing this concert around local students, we hope to encourage their family members and friends to come out and support them. The event is timed so that people have time to get off of work, come downtown, listen to some music and then hopefully stay downtown to do some shopping and have dinner.
The LDDA is very excited to be a part of this unique yet family friendly event.

ArtWalk Photo Contest
Art Through the Lens Photo Contest/Exhibit
ArtWalk Longmont is hosting Art Through the Lens Photo Contest/Exhibit on July 18, 2008. The photo contest and exhibition opportunity has three distinct categories: Amateur, Professional and Photojournalist as Artist. The Amateur and Professional categories are regional competitions including residents of Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties while the Photojournalist as Artist category is a state wide competition for current staff news photographers of Colorado newspapers. The unique aspect of this competition is the opportunity for photographers of all skill levels to exhibit their work at a public event.
Art Through the Lens Photo Contest/Exhibit will feature the often overlooked artistic talents of the news photographers who record their community’s daily events. Creative newspaper images capture our attention everyday yet the news photographer is rarely recognized for the artistic elements of their talents. The photojournalist category is a state wide contest and the 1st place winner will be the Featured Artist for the July 18, 2008 ArtWalk and will receive a monetary prize. Contest winners will automatically be juried into the July 18 ArtWalk; all contestants can request consideration for exhibition. The contest will be judged by professionals in the fields of photography and photojournalism. Entry deadline is March 15, 2008.
This is also a Call for Entries into the amateur and professional photographer categories for all ages in Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties. These contest winners will also be automatically juried into the July ArtWalk and all contestants will also be given the opportunity to have their work juried for possible inclusion. This category entry deadline is May 1, 2008.
